I paint. On paper, and on ceramics.
I’m Anna. I am a painter and a ceramicist — to me it is one practice, not two separate ones. I paint in ink and watercolour on paper, then carry the same gestures and motifs onto tableware, which I glaze and fire.
I came to ceramics slowly: first a course, then a shelf in someone else’s studio, and finally my own small place — a glazing table and a painting corner side by side, plus a kiln. It is calm, physical work, and it refuses to be rushed.
I paint by hand, without transfers or stencils — on paper or on a piece alike. That is why a line sometimes wanders, a palm leans a little, and two similar motifs are never truly the same. The paper compositions enter a fine art edition as prints; the ceramic piece stays one of a kind — but in both, that is where the object starts to feel alive.
